What is an Asian handicap?

The Asian handicap is a market that allows you to bet on a team by giving them a goal advantage or disadvantage at the start of the match to balance the match. A team can therefore be virtually in the lead before the match starts.

The Asian handicap offers more possibilities than a normal handicap bet, as you may be able to get part or all of your bet reimbursed.

Handicap (0)This corresponds to the bet “Reimbursed if draw”. If the match is a draw, your stake will be fully reimbursed.
Handicap (+1, +2, -1, -2, etc.)This type of bet allows a goal to be added or taken away from the team of your choice at the end of the match. If, by adding your handicap and the final result, you get a draw, your bet is reimbursed. Let’s look at a concrete example. You bet on Westerlo Handicap (-1) against KAA Gent: if Westerlo  win by 2 goals difference or more, you win your bet. If Westerlo win by 1 goal difference, your bet is reimbursed. If Westerlo draw or lose the match, you lose your bet.
Handicap (+0.5, +1.5, -0.5, -1.5, etc.)Your stake is divided into two different bets. Let’s look at a concrete example. You stake €10 on Westerlo - Handicap (0.75). This means that €5 will be placed on Westerlo - Handicap (-0.5) and €5 on Westerlo - Handicap  (-1.0). If Westerlo  win by 2 goals difference or more, you win your whole bet. If Westerlo win by 1 goal difference, you win half your bet (H-0.5) and are reimbursed the other half (H-1.0). If Westerlo draw or lose the match, you lose your whole bet.
