What is Asian Handicap?

The Asian handicap is a market that allows you to bet on a team by giving them a goal advantage or disadvantage at the start of the match in order to balance the game. A team can therefore virtually lead the score before the match begins.

The Asian handicap offers more possibilities than a regular handicap bet, as sometimes you can get a refund of your stake partially or even fully.

Handicap (0)This corresponds to the "Refund if draw" bet. In case of a draw, your stake is fully refunded.
Handicap (+1, +2, -1, -2, etc.)

A bet of this type allows you to add or subtract a goal to the team of your choice at the end of the match. If, by adding your handicap and the final result, you get a draw, your bet is refunded.

Let's take a concrete example. You bet on Porto Handicap (-1) against Benfica:

  • If Porto wins by 2 goals or more, you win your bet.
  • If Porto wins by 1 goal, your bet is refunded.
  • If Porto draws or loses the match, you lose your bet.
Handicap (+0.5, +1.5, -0.5, -1.5, etc.)

Your stake will be split into two separate bets.

Let's take a concrete example. You bet €10 on Porto - Handicap (-0.75). This means that €5 will be placed on Porto - Handicap (-0.5) and €5 on Porto - Handicap (-1.0).

  • If Porto wins by 2 goals or more, you win your bet entirely.
  • If Porto wins by 1 goal, you win half your bet (H-0.5) and get the other half refunded (H-1.0).
  • If Porto draws or loses the match, you lose your entire bet.
